Lori Calavan

Lori is a practicing Surgical Critical Care Physician Assistant at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, a Level II Trauma Center, in Hartford, Connecticut. She has 14 years of Physician Assistant experience, 10 of those in Surgical Critical Care. Prior to her tenure at Saint Francis, she worked as a Cardiology/Cardiac ICU Physician Assistant at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Lori is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), and she directs the Fundamentals of Critical Care Support Course, sponsored by SCCM, at Saint Francis Hospital. This course prepares health care providers (Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, EMTs and Paramedics) caring for unstable, critically ill or injured patients. Lori has completed the Introduction to Hyperbaric Medicine Course (sponsored by UHMS) and cares for Patients undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.

Lori is an Adjunct Professor at Quinnipiac University’s Physician Assistant Program in North Haven, Connecticut. Along with teaching, Lori enjoys research and has been published in the journal World Neurosurgery (2017). She is also a former Advisory Board Member of LifeChoice Donor Services, now New England Donor Services, and has participated in several poster presentations for The North American Organization for Transplant Coordinators (NATCO).

Lori completed her Physician Assistant studies at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She is a native English speaker and is proficient in both French and Spanish.
